Today, discover the awesome impact of positive daily affirmation and how it has completely changes your mindset and overall well-being.
Recently I was talking to a friend about Stuart Smalley, the character from Saturday Night Live back in the early 1990's. Does anyone else remember "Daily Affirmations with Stuart Smalley?" I loved this skit. And I was explaining to my friend how Stuart Smalley was the ultimate original Life Coach! He coined the daily affirmation, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!"
As I reminisced about this great skit, I thought, "Why didn't more people realize how important this is?!" We live in a world that is constantly changing and throwing challenges and negativity our way. It is essential to create a positive mindset that empowers up to overcome hurdles and obstacles, thus reaching our full potential! One powerful tool to achieve this is by using the daily practice of positive daily affirmations. So, let's explore how incorporating positive affirmations into your daily routine can transform you life for the better!
UNDERSTANDING the POWER OF POSITIVE DAILY AFFIRMATIONS-
Positive daily affirmations are short but POWERFUL statements that reflect your desired state of being or outcome. By being consistent in repeating these positive statements, or affirmations, to yourself you begin to replace negative thoughts (often in our own subconscious mind) with positive and empowering beliefs. This process allows for a shift in your self perceptions, your mindset, and your mental/emotional well-being, while increasing self-confidence, motivation and resilience.
NEUROSCIENCE AND AFFIRMATIONS-
I love learning about the brain and how different emotions and feelings affect our brainwaves. (It really is quite fascinating!) Research in the neuroscience has found that our thoughts have a direct impact on our brain's natural pathways. When we repeat positive affirmations, we active the brain's reward centers, releasing those feel-good naturally made chemicals called dopamine and serotonin. And then guess what happens? Our mood is boosted and our brain rewires to focus on positive outcomes, which in turn, creates more happiness! I told you this was fascinating! (If you are like me, perhaps you'd like to read more about this...and I found a lot of information in this blog: https://malpaper.com/blogs/news/is-there-science-behind-positive-daily-affirmations )

HOW TO START WITH DAILY AFFIRMATIONS-
Begin with Intent in Mind: Set a clear intention daily as to what time of the day you want to focus on affirmations and what your purpose of your statements will be.
Choose Empowering Affirmations: What resonates with you currently? What goals do you have? What are your values and strengths? Make sure your affirmation statements are in present-tense.
Repetition, Repetition, Repetition!: Repeat these affirmations several times a day! And if you can, say them in front of a mirror! (More on this throughout the week and next week's blog!)
